Two post-doctoral research positions have become available for 2 highly motivated Ph.D. and/or M.D. in the Laboratory of Immunology of the Division of Therapeutic Proteins, Center for Drug Evaluation & Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Position 1: We are interested in hiring a fellow to lead a counter-bioterrorism research project aimed at investigating host-pathogen interactions in the CNS of mice infected with arena virus and other models of hemorrhagic fever. The ideal candidate will have a very strong neuroimmunology background and experience in viral encephalitis, molecular biology, cellular immunology, and the use of animal models. Proficiency in immunohistochemistry, multicolor flow cytometry, cytokine quantitation, and molecular biology techniques, along with excellent writing and communication skills are needed. Experience in microarray, TLDA, and nanostring technology highly desirable. The candidate must either be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. Salary is commensurate with experience. Interested candidates should submit a CV, statement of past research experience, and contact information for three references to Dr. Daniela Verthelyi by e-mail at daniela.verthelyi@fda.hhs.gov.
Position2: We are interested in a fellow to conduct research on the interaction of sex hormones and innate immune modulators and their impact on onset and progression of autoimmune disease. The selected candidate will have a very strong background in basic and applied immunology and a focus on innate immunity and autoimmune disease. Proficiency in multicolor flow cytometry, cytokine quantitation, and molecular biology techniques, along with excellent writing and communication skills are needed. Experience in microarray, TLDA, Fluodigm and Nanostring technology is highly desirable.
Note that the lab will be moving into a bright new laboratory space at the FDA campus in White Oak MD in July.
