NCAR's High Altitude Observatory seeks a new Director. The HAO Director is responsible for the overall scientific and strategic mission, productivity, and excellence of the Observatory in the areas of solar and heliospheric physics, and the effects of solar variability on the Earth's magnetosphere, ionosphere, and upper atmosphere. This includes HAO vision and mission leadership and management of the implementation of long- and short-term planning that supports the HAO and NCAR mission. The Director is also responsible for the effective management and administration of the Observatory. The Director fosters interaction and collaboration between NCAR, UCAR and UCAR Community Programs staff and programs. In addition, the Director is responsible for program advocacy in a number of forums including government agencies, UCAR member and non-member institutions and the scientific community at large. As a member of the NCAR Executive Committee and an NCAR Associate Director, the Director shares in NCAR management deliberations, offering on the behalf of HAO and NCAR advice on matters such as scientific goals, initiatives and standards, budgets, priorities, policies, programs, and other matters.
