We are seeking two highly motivated PhD Scientist/Staff Scientists to lead a program dedicated to the characterization of the molecular function of genetic variants. The successful candidates with report to the Head of Functional Modeling and will work on in vitro characterization of molecular function and, for a subset of variants will design corresponding genetically modified alleles for transfer in the mouse. The successful candidates should be able to coordinate this effort with internal and external collaborators, integrate with other Regeneron programs and collaborate in generating in vivo models of disease. They should be able to work in a fast paced, collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, have good communication and organizational skills and be able to quickly learn and apply new techniques and methods. The Scientist/Staff Scientist will:
• Independently design, execute and analyze results from in vitro molecular studies.
• Coordinate with Regeneron scientist to generate in vivo models of disease.
• Survey the literature and conferences for discoveries and findings from the broader genetics/molecular and cellular biology communities. Integrate such findings into study opportunities and considerations internally.
• Record keeping, write research reports and create presentations.
• Communicate and report study findings, analyses and future directions with leadership, administration, and collaborators.
• Coordinate with Regeneron and external collaborator scientists to integrate findings and analyses into new and existing programs.
• Write manuscripts and coordinate publication.
• Contribute to management of group goals, as well as individual development goals.
Experience and Required Skills:
This position requires a minimum of a PhD or equivalent degree in the area of biology or life sciences, preferably with several years of post-graduate or industry research experience related to Molecular Biology and/or Molecular Genetics. This experience should include:
• A Strong background in molecular biology and protein function characterization.
• Experience with molecular characterization and other functional studies geared towards following up genetic association analysis.
• Familiarity with clinical genetics and genetic models of disease.
• Proven data analysis skills.
• Computer literacy and Microsoft Office competence (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good organizational skills.
Level will be commensurate with experience.
