The Space Sciences Department at The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA
is seeking to hire an ionospheric scientist.
The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific
research, development, and advisory services to national security space
programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development
center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National
Reconnaissance Office and support all national security space (NSS)
programs. We also apply more than 50 years of experience with space systems
to projects for civil agencies like NASA and the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, commercial companies, universities, and
international organizations in the national interest.
The job duties include conducting ionospheric science research,
disseminating results through scientific conferences and peer-reviewed
publication, participating in the analysis and interpretation of space-
science data sets, writing proposals to NASA and NSF for research funding,
and supporting NSS program offices through the application of the results of
space science research and the resulting knowledge base.
Qualifications are a Ph. D. degree in Space Science or closely related
field, and two or more years of experience in conducting ionospheric
research including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
Experience with design, building and testing of space science
instrumentation and experience working with contractors and/or program
offices is preferred. A secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is
required, and a SCI clearance is desirable.
